Substitutions and Variations

Meat: Substitute the ground beef with other ground meat such as ground turkey or leave it out to make a meatless taco dip. Consider adding extra refried beans if going the meatless route.

Cheese: This slow cooker dip recipe uses nacho cheese but Velveeta cheese is a great substitution. A Mexican cheese blend or a blend of Pepper Jack Cheese, or Monterey Jack cheese are also good options.

Spice: Add some kick to the dip by adding chili powder, chili powder, or green chilies.

Toppings: Add your favorite toppings such as black olives, poblano peppers, fresh tomatoes, green onions, and black beans for extra flavor.

Helpful Tips

To make this dip even easier, use lean ground beef to reduce the amount of grease that will need to be drained from the beef.

Before storing this tasty dip, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing it in an airtight container and placing it in the refrigerator.

When you're ready to reheat your leftovers, heat in the microwave using short intervals and stirring until heated through place the dip back in the Crockpot on the low setting until heated through.
