Fun, easy, and creative ideas to send your child back to school with a packed lunch. With a little imagination and creativity, you can have a lunch that your kids will enjoy eating!

Back to School Lunch

School days can be hectic, stressful, and have very little downtime. When packing lunch for my children, I aim to pack foods I know they love and that are better for them. I also pack a special treat in their lunch so that they can have that "break" and enjoy something sweet.

When packing my children's lunch, I aim to send them to school with a lunchbox that has no added fillers, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, or artificial colors, which seems hard to come by these days. When packing a tasty treat for my kids, I pack cookies from Dewey's Bakery for that very reason.

Southern Heritage and Fresh Baked Treats

Dewey's Bakery is a family-owned business that was established in 1930 in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. After all these years, their cookies remain the same. They use the original recipes and they use clean ingredients, which means there are no high fructose corn syrups or any hydrogenated oils.

I pack these cookies as their "special treat" without any guilt because of how naturally they're made. I also know when they bite into a cookie at lunchtime, and even share a cookie with a friend, they think of home and take a moment to breathe and enjoy their lunch.

Supporting companies that give back is also important to me and Dewey's Bakery does just that. They've given back to the state of North Carolina by raising over three million dollars for the community through fundraising.

Share a Cookie

My kids love home baked cookies but I don't always have the time to make the cookie dough and bake them in the oven. The beginning of the school year is always busy, from learning new class schedules to extra-curricular activities, making home baked goods isn't always an option. With Dewey's Bakery, I can achieve that southern home baked flavor that my kids know so well and enjoy without the hassle.

It's a good idea to put together a selection of food options together that you know your child will enjoy. When you have more than one child in school, it can be difficult but not impossible! It's so important to pack a lunch that is healthy, filling, and one that will be eaten! Get creative with your lunches, even if you pack the same things, and you won't hear the fuss about "eating the same thing" day after day.

Start brainstorming and writing down ideas of what your child will actually eat out of each food group. Here are some tasty and easy choices to get started:
