What is Poke Cake?

A poke cake is a cake that is baked, cooled for a few minutes, and then poked with holes. The holes can be poked with either the tines of a fork or with the handle of a wooden spoon.

Once the holes are poked, pudding in this case, or other ingredients such as gelatin are poured over the holes to fill them and then the remaining liquid is poured evenly over the top of the cake.

The cake is then chilled before decorating, slicing, and serving.

Pudding poke cakes such as this Easter Pudding Poke Cake as well as other poke cakes are very easy to make and are highly customizable based on the occasion or event you are making one for.
