Ingredients

shortening

cup
granulated sugar

light brown sugar

eggs

teaspoon
vanilla extract
2 ¾

all-purpose flour

teaspoon
baking soda

teaspoon
salt

cup
semi-sweet chocolate chips
1
cup
M&M's
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F
In a large bowl combine shortening, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
Add in eggs, one at a time.
Add in salt and baking soda.
Slowly add in flour, mixing until combined.
Stir in chocolate chips and M&M's.
Roll into 1 inch balls or use a #30 cookie scoop to scoop the cookies onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
Bake for about 9 minutes (until bottoms are slightly browned).
Gently press the tops of the cookies down using the back of a spoon or the bottom of a drinking glass to flatten the cookies a bit.
Top with additional chocolate chips and M&M's.
Allow to cool for 5 minutes and transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Notes
Don’t Overbake
– Pull the cookies from the oven when the edges are just golden brown for soft centers.
Use a Cookie Scoop
– For evenly sized cookies and a consistent bake time.
Flatten Lightly
– Press the tops of the cookies gently after baking to get that classic bakery-style look.
