Combine the all-purpose flour, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl. Stir to mix well and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together the granulated sugar with the vegetable oil and canned pumpkin and stir well to combine.
Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture until all the dry ingredients are moistened.
Pour the pumpkin cake batter into the baking pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until when a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
