Icing

powdered sugar

Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk egg, flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl until combined.
Stir in lemon juice and almond extract.
Add cream cheese and whisk until smooth.
Roll out puff pastry and cut into two rectangles.
Score a border around each rectangle and lightly brush edges with milk if desired.
Bake for 10 minutes until puffed and lightly golden.
Press down the centers of each pastry.
Spread cream cheese filling over the center.
Spoon cherry preserves over the filling.
Bake 15 minutes until set and golden brown.
Whisk powdered sugar, milk, almond extract, and salt until smooth.
Drizzle icing over danishes and top with sliced almonds.
Cool slightly, then slice and serve.

Let cream cheese soften fully for a smooth filling.
If pastry browns too quickly, loosely cover edges with foil.
Best served fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
