Ground Beef Taco

This recipe for restaurant-style tacos doesn't include a taco seasoning packet. Instead, the seasoning for these tacos is made at home using a variety of spices.

The spices that go into this recipe are common and they're easy to find at big box or grocery stores.

To get perfect ground beef crumbles, I use my food processor to break down the meat into crumbles after browning and draining. It's a super quick way to get the perfect crumbles for tacos.

Fresh Taco Toppings

When making restaurant-style ground beef tacos, it's best to use fresh ingredients for the toppings.

Freshly made red salsa is a great topping for these tacos as well as some freshly chopped Roma tomatoes. I also serve my tacos with chopped romaine lettuce.

Guacamole and sour cream are other great topping options for garnishment.

Corn Tortillas

Corn tortillas are my tortilla of choice when making these ground beef tacos because they're better for you than flour tortillas.

They're higher in fiber and magnesium, and they have less sodium.

Corn tortillas are also more widely used in Mexican cuisine than the flour tortilla. Flour tortillas are more common around the Northern Mexico/U.S. border. I personally enjoy this recipe more so with the corn tortillas but use whichever you prefer for this recipe!

Just as with the flour tortilla, the tortillas should be heated up before serving with the beef tacos.

To warm corn tortillas, you can place them in the microwave or you can heat a skillet and spray it with cooking spray. Once the skillet sizzles when splashing a tiny bit of water on it, add the corn tortilla. Allow the tortilla to heat for 30 seconds before flipping and heating the other side.

If the corn tortilla does heat for too long, it be become very hard and will snap when bent. Keep an eye on it and stick to thirty seconds on each side.
